Honesty and transparency

Scope, fees, timelines, deliverables and responsibilities are explained as clearly as possible before work begins. If circumstances change, OWL raises the issue early rather than hiding it behind vague agency language.

OWL is an independent studio operated by Owen Denesuik. Collaborators or specialist suppliers are identified when their involvement is relevant to a project.

Accessibility and inclusion

Accessibility is considered throughout the design process, including legibility, colour contrast, content structure, interaction and practical production needs. Recommendations are based on the project’s audience, medium and scope.

The studio avoids knowingly creating discriminatory, deceptive or harmful material. Concerns about language, representation or usability are raised respectfully with the client.

Credit and intellectual property

Client work, collaborators, photographers, writers, developers and other contributors are credited accurately where appropriate. OWL does not present another person’s work as its own or claim a larger role than it actually had.

Usage rights, ownership and portfolio permissions are addressed in the project agreement. Client-supplied material must be owned or properly licensed by the client.

Responsible tools and assets

Fonts, photography, mockups, templates and other third-party assets are sourced with appropriate licences. New technologies, including generative tools, are used with judgement and are not a substitute for original thinking, professional responsibility or client confidentiality.

OWL will explain material use of generated content when it meaningfully affects the final work, its ownership or its production.

Confidentiality and conflicts

Non-public client information is treated as confidential and shared only with approved collaborators or service providers when needed to complete the work. Potential conflicts of interest are disclosed when identified.

Client work is not published in the studio portfolio before it is public or before any agreed confidentiality period has ended.

Community support

Selected small non-profits may qualify for pro bono design support. Eligibility, scope, timing and any agreed OWL credit or promotional placement are explained before the work begins. A free service does not mean lower professional standards or unlimited scope.
