The brief

Bring many moving pieces under one recognizable idea.

A complete visual identity for a civic initiative bringing transportation, public space, business development and community priorities into one clear system.

The Integrated Plan needed to communicate progress across several distinct initiatives without feeling fragmented or overly institutional. The identity had to work for public reports, presentations, signage and digital communication while remaining connected to downtown Kingston.

The central idea

Direction becomes the organizing principle.

The core mark is built from overlapping directional forms that suggest movement, connection and multiple paths working toward a shared destination. A place-informed palette and flexible pattern system give the identity range across formal reports and more public-facing applications.

In practice

One identity, built to work in public.

The visual system carries naturally from detailed brand guidance into reports, presentations and public-engagement materials—clear enough for civic communication without feeling like another government template.

The outcome

A practical system built for long-term reporting.

The final identity includes primary and secondary marks, an emblem, typography, colour standards, patterns and accessible pairing guidance. The system was documented so future materials can stay consistent as the initiative develops through 2027.
